Ron Mello Studio Art

Initially inspired by the original brushes of the late  Keith Lebenzon, all Ron Mello Brushes are unique, handmade and one-of-a-kind. Like Keith I also have an extensive background in Art Education. Having taught art in public schools as well as a professor of ceramics at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts for almost 40 years. Unlike Keith who stopped ceramics when he started making brushes I still create ceramic vessels and sculptures.

I create brushes for watercolor, pottery, calligraphy, and  Sumi-e painting. Some of my brushes lean more to sculpture but, all are FUNCTIONAL..  A variety of natural hairs are used in my brushes, including but not limited to: moose, deer, goat, sable, squirrel, fox, bison and elk as well as an occasional synthetic.
